Carolle Brabant to take the podium at Prime Time in Ottawa

Carolle Brabant, Telefilm’s Executive Director, will take the stage at the 2012 edition of Prime Time in Ottawa on March 2.

Speaking on the last day of the three-day conference, Ms. Brabant will discuss financing realities for Canada’s audiovisual industry in an address entitled The Canadian audiovisual industry: We mean business.

In a period of economic restraint, the Canadian audiovisual industry must embrace innovation and advocacy. As outlined in our corporate plan, Fostering Cultural Success, we’re exploring new sources of financing on the industry’s behalf and are encouraging the industry to diversify its funding sources, most notably from the private sector.

In order to facilitate these new funding partnerships, the industry as whole must enhance its efforts at telling their success stories and at creating demand for their films. Canadian producers, broadcasters and distributors need to work together to ensure that content is properly showcased, viewed and sold.

C3: Consumers, Commanding, Content

This year’s conference is all about the consumer.

Consumers are in the driver’s seat in today’s media marketplace. Canada’s production industry must change with the times in order to create and monetize innovative content that appeals to transmedia audiences.

Prime Time in Ottawa 2012 takes place from February 29 to March 2. Register to attend today.
