Telefilm Canada Supports the 7th Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois Tour
Montreal, September 27, 2010 - Telefilm Canada is proud to support the 2010-11 edition of the Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois (RVCQ) Tour through the Alternative Distribution Program. The tour, which allows Canadians across the country to discover some of the best in francophone cinema from the past year, travels both across the province, from October 8 to November 11, 2010, and across Canada in March of 2011.
“A proud partner of the Tours from their start, Telefilm recognizes the importance of this initiative not only for spotlighting films that were made in our own backyard, but also, with the cross-Canada tour, for building audiences in several regions of the country,” said Sheila de La Varende, Director of National and International Business Development.
The 7th Quebec edition of the RVCQ Tour lands in 11 cities across the province this year, bringing with it six short films, six documentaries, and ten features from some of Quebec’s most recognized filmmakers, many of which were also financed by Telefilm.
The Canadian Tour stops in seven cities across Canada with a different program, the details of which will be announced at a later date.
This year’s program is comprised of a vast range of films, including such international successes as Xavier Dolan’s Cannes award-winning Heartbeats (Les Amours imaginaires) and Denis Villeneveuve’s Incendies, Canada’s Oscar pick in the running for the Best Foreign Language Film nomination.
