Call for projects for Quebec production companies located in the regions
Montréal, July 29, 2008 - For the second year in a row, Telefilm Canada is supporting the development of French-language fiction feature-film projects, in the form of treatment or outline, by Quebec producers established outside the Montréal region (that is, located more than 150 km from Montréal). Eligible projects must be budgeted at more than $1.25 million.
This initiative aims specifically to increase the development of projects emanating from the regions of Quebec by supporting both emerging and well-established producers working in the regional audiovisual sector.
“Encouraging audiovisual production in diverse locations is essential to the viability of Quebec’s industry,” stated Michel Pradier, Director, French Operations and Quebec Office. “Telefilm Canada is following a consistent approach in terms of providing development support as well as assistance to creative talents in Quebec.”
“Through this initiative,” added Louise Deslauriers, Director of French-language feature film at Telefilm Canada, “our Corporation seeks to foster the development of regional projects in order to reflect the wealth of talent among Francophone audiovisual artists.”
Telefilm Canada’s financial participation will be provided in the form of non-interest-bearing advances that may total up to 60% of eligible development costs for this phase, to a maximum of $20,000 per project. Funding may reach a maximum of $25,000 per project in the event an applicant producer hires a producer-consultant. Projects will be assessed by a selection committee whose members will be drawn from industry representatives in the various regions of Quebec as well as from Telefilm Canada.
The deadline for submitting project applications is Tuesday, October 14, 2008. For further information, please visit Telefilm Canada’s website at www.telefilm.ca.
