JUMP IN THE ACTION with the Feature It! initiative

Montreal, July 28, 2008 – The Feature It! initiative is back for the second year running. With support from the Department of Canadian Heritage, Telefilm Canada is offering writers, writer-directors and producers working in English in Quebec the opportunity to secure funding to develop a feature film project, and to hone their feature film skills through training workshops and professional coaching.

This initiative, part of Telefilm’s Official Language Activities (OLA) Program, is aimed at expanding the English-speaking talent pool from Quebec and enabling visual content creators to develop fiction feature film projects with the potential to reach audiences in their communities, across Canada and abroad.

Last year, Telefilm Canada supported five English-language projects from Quebec at the pre-development stage. Two of the five projects received $20,000 in development support to write a first draft.

For additional details on the calls for projects for Feature It! and its French-language counterpart, Écrire au long, visit www.telefilm.ca before the application deadline; Tuesday, September 23, 2008.

Applications can be submitted via eTelefilm.
