Official statement from Telefilm Canada on the passing of Pierre DesRoches

Montreal, May 25, 2007 – “It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Pierre DesRoches, who served with distinction as Telefilm Canada’s Executive Director from 1988 to 1994,” said Wayne Clarkson, the Corporation’s Executive Director.

“With his vast experience in the field of administration and his passion for Canadian culture, he was truly an inspirational leader for Telefilm and the Canadian audiovisual industry.

“Ever committed to developing Canadian talent in all its diversity, some of the exceptional Canadian productions that were released during his six years as the head of the Corporation include: Denys Arcand’s Jésus de Montréal, François Girard’s Thirty-Two Short Films about Glen Gould and Atom Egoyan’s Exotica.

“On behalf of everyone at Telefilm, I extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Pierre. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.”
