Telefilm Canada Announces 38 Successful Product Development and Marketing Projects
Montreal, September 29, 2005 - Following the recent round of decisions,
Telefilm Canada is pleased to announce the new media projects that were successful
at the Full Application stage.
At the May 9, Deadline, Telefilm received 123 Expressions of Interest nationally
for Product Development and Marketing in French and English. Sixty-five of these
projects were invited to submit Full Applications to Telefilm Canada and the
profile of the successful applications is as follows:
- 23 of 42 English-language applications for product development & marketing
applications were successful.
- 14 of 19 French-language applications for product development and marketing
applications were successful.
- 1 French-language application of 4 applications in both languages for distribution
was successful.
- 66% of successful projects were for online projects while 34% were for offline
projects.
"We have invested in a wide range of diverse properties including wireless
products, interactive DVD-ROMs, convergent Web sites, console games, and CD-ROMs."
said Bruno Légaré, New Media Sector Head for Telefilm Canada.
"Canadian content and overall quality and innovation in the projects for
this decision period were extremely high, indicating the enthusiasm with which
the industry is embracing the objectives of the fund."
The next application deadline for the Canada New Media Fund is October 19,
