Telefilm Canada celebrates Canadian cinema and talent at the 27th World Film Festival

Montréal, August 12, 2003 – Telefilm Canada renews it’s participation to the World Film Festival through its Canada Showcase program, which supports events that contribute actively and directly towards the promotion and presentation of Canadian works. In this spirit, the Festival’s long-standing commitment to showcasing Canadian cinema as well as its international flavour help build audiences for Canadian artistry.

Telefilm Canada pays tribute to Canadian film and filmmaking talent
Telefilm will again be supporting the Panorama Canada section which is a can’t-miss opportunity for festival-goers to discover some of the country’s most original and captivating Canadian films of the past year.

Telefilm Canada, in conjunction with Cantos International Publishing, will also be officially launching Hollywood North: Creating The Canadian Motion Picture Industry, a revealing insider’s look at Canada’s film and television industry, co-authored by Michael Spencer, the Corporation’s founder and first Executive Director, with Suzan Ayscough.

Telefilm Canada meets with up-and-coming Canadian directors
On September 3, representatives from the Corporation’s Festivals and Markets Bureau will be hosting an information and Q&A session for on-the-rise Canadian filmmakers whose works are to be screened at the Festival. The workshop will address the ins and outs of the Canadian and international festival circuit as well as the gamut of logistical and promotional services offered by Telefilm.

In addition, the Bureau will be distributing the second edition of its Info-Guide. This practical “how-to” will help the event’s neophytes successfully navigate the World Film Festival with pointers on everything from accreditation, screenings and media relations.
