Canada New Media Fund
Product and Distribution Assistance : Extended Application Deadline
Clarifications to the Guidelines
Montréal, August 16, 2002 - Telefilm Canada is pleased to announce that the next deadline for product and distribution assistance applications to the Canada New Media Fund has been extended to September 23, 2002. This will be the last application deadline for fiscal 2002-03, as the December deadline has been cancelled.
Clarifications to the Guidelines
In anticipation of continued over-demand and due to the limited resources of the Canada New Media Fund, Telefilm will apply the same filtering process as in the previous application deadline for all projects submitted by September 23. Only projects judged to have the strongest concept and marketing components will proceed to full evaluation.
For pre-development and development assistance applications, the filtering analysis will focus on the project concept (proposed content, production team and technology).
For production and marketing assistance applications, the filtering analysis will focus on both the project concept (as described above) and the marketing components (marketing and business plan, potential to reach target audience, capacity to generate revenue).
Applicants should note that all project phases previously funded by Telefilm must be completed before a project becomes eligible for funding of subsequent phases.
For new media projects coupled with a television program, any application to the Canada New Media Fund must demonstrate broadcaster involvement. For the pre-development and/or development phases, applications must include a broadcaster letter of interest for the allied program. For the production and/or marketing phases, applications must include a broadcast license agreement. For all phases, applications must include separate television program and new media budgets.
Also, in addition to the list of non-eligible products, the following will be deemed ineligible:
· linear and streaming content (music, video)
· catalogues or data bases
· application software and system software
The guidelines for 2002-2003 are available on the Telefilm Canada website, under Funds and Programs at www.telefilm.ca
