It should be noted that the Canada New Media Fund is now endowed with
an annual budget of $9 million; Telefilm Canada previously administered
a budgetary envelope for new-media projects of $6 million.
Of the accepted projects, 45 are for pre-development/development, 32
for production, 32 for marketing and 10 for sectoral development. The
projects accepted for development, production and marketing originate
in all regions of the country and cover a wide range of both media and
content: CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs, Web sites. Many of these projects are tie-ins
with television shows, multimedia installations, wireless products and
interactive games. Sectoral development assistance is focused on festivals,
awards and conferences.
Telefilm Canada would also like to announce that the next application
deadlines for fiscal 2002-2003 are April 29, 2002 and September 3, 2002.
Applications for sectoral development assistance may be submitted at
any time. The guidelines for 2002-2003, which are unchanged from the
