INDUSTRY ADVISORY CANADA FEATURE FILM FUND 2007-2008 WRITER’S FIRST PROGRAM
October 19, 2006 -Telefilm Canada would like to announce material changes
to the Canada Feature Film Fund's Writer's First program, effective for
2007-2008. These changes are meant to better align the program with the objectives
of the Script to Screen Policy, by focusing resources on promising screenwriters
for the creation of screenplays likely to lead to success at the box office. The
changes will also make the program's administration more efficient, freeing up
resources for program spending.
Key changes:
In order to be considered eligible for Writer's First, applicants produced
writing credits must be within the last seven years.
There are two phases for Writer's First: Outline to Treatment and
Treatment to First Draft. The phase of Outline to First Draft
available to applicants in 2006-2007 has been eliminated.
