Marketing Program
|
|
 |
 |
The Canada Feature Film Fund’s Marketing Program is available to distribution and production companies looking for marketing and distribution support for their feature film projects. The Program funds marketing activities aimed at increasing theatrical accessibility and enhancing opportunities for audience access via digital distribution and multiple viewing platforms, which is in line with Telefilm’s goal of expanding the reach of Canadian productions and talent, both nationally and internationally. This Program has been revamped as part of Telefilm Canada’s Program Redesign initiative, following extensive consultation with the industry across Canada. Telefilm’s goal in streamlining our programs is to respond to client needs more efficiently by reducing the administrative process burden as well as the decision-making response time. The new Program comes into effect May 27, 2013.
OVERVIEW OF KEY CHANGES Program consolidation - The main Marketing, Alternative Distribution, Web-Ciné 360, and Versioning Assistance Programs have now been merged into a single Marketing Program.
- International Marketing remains a stand-alone program.
- Both Performance and Selective components will remain in effect for fiscal 2013-2014.
Eligible expenses - All eligible costs and activities previously funded under the various separate programs will continue to be supported through the new Marketing Program, along with an expanded scope of eligible expenses which includes support for marketing and distribution on ancillary and digital platforms.
- Versioning assistance will be considered an eligible expense under this Program.
- A theatrical release remains a compulsory component of marketing plans submitted to Telefilm for support.
Eligible applicants - Both eligible Canadian distributors and producers can apply for financing. In all cases, the applicant must be the distribution rights holder.
- Eligible projects are Canadian feature films (CAVCO 8/10 or Audiovisual Treaty Coproduction), with priority given to CFFF-funded films.
- Telefilm will continue to exercise discretion in determining whether or not, and to what extent, a company is qualified for the requested purpose of receiving any financing from the Program.
Financing levels - Production companies will be entitled to apply for marketing support of up to 75% of the eligible costs - to a maximum of $50,000.
- The amount of financial support (subject to 75% maximum and overall availability of funds) will depend on the amount of the request, the scope of the project, as well as the applicant’s track record.
- Recoupment will remain unchanged for fiscal 2013-2014 (other than the merging of previously separate costs such as versioning).
