CANADA SALES DESK at the EUROPEAN FILM MARKET
February 7 to 15, 2013
The central event for the film industry at the Berlinale is the European Film Market (EFM). The interest in the EFM and its international significance is reflected by its continued expansion over the past few years.
The 2012 EFM attracted 403 exhibitors and 7,920 industry professionals from 100 countries, a 15% increase to the previous year. 760 feature films were presented, including 598 market premieres, during 1,138 screenings.
In partnership with federal organizations, Telefilm Canada will issue a call for entries from Canadian sales companies planning to attend the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin. A Canadian sales office will be put at the disposal of distributors, offering turnkey spaces complete with furnishings, AV equipment, reception service and Internet access. These spaces will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
To round out existing initiatives at the EFM, Telefilm Canada will spotlight Canadian producers attending Berlin that have projects in development seeking financing through co-production and/or pre-sales. The PRODUCERS WITHOUT BORDERS directory will be integrated into our marketing campaign. The registered producers will benefit from a “matchmaking” service.
