A humorous television series with a sci-fi twist. CAUCHEMAR D'AMOUR III

In its first two seasons, Cauchemar d'amour explored various aspects of the search for love and examined the stages that people go through when they fall in love. In its third season, the series - with characteristic humour - looks at how the decision to have a child strengthens a couple's commitment to a loving relationship. Having a child is a life-changing experience; as this series reveals, however, not all potential mothers share the same maternal instincts.

COLD SQUAD VII

In the police world, a file is either "hot" or "cold". For a murder to be considered "hot", one must have a warm body and a suspect, opportunity and a motive, evidence and the will to prosecute. Without these, the file is passed down to the Cold Squad. One of the most intriguing police dramas on the air, Cold Squad focuses on a team of police detectives who have the unenviable task of solving old, or "cold" murder cases. Fortunately, innovative forensic technology, DNA evidence and advances in psychological profiling, along with the passage of time, can shed new light on old facts.

EDGEMONT V

Savvy, bittersweet and laced with humour, Edgemont follows the lives of a group of teens as they grapple with the trials and exhilarations of coming-of-age. The stories are drawn from the fabric of suburban teenaged life: the often-whimsical struggle for identity, the roller-coaster of first love, the pain and confusion of family break-up, the bonds of friendship and the shock of betrayal, the crunch as pipe-dreams collide with reality. When you're young, absolutely everything matters.

FÉLIX LECLERC

Singer-songwriter, poet and playwright Félix Leclerc was a big hit when he performed his songs in France in the early 1950s. As such, he also paved the way for other French chansonniers such as Georges Brassens, Jacques Brel and Léo Ferré. Years later, Leclerc, frustrated by the poor reception of his theatre work in Quebec and prompted by the new love in his life, again turns his attention to audiences in France. Breaking with Jacques Canetti, the talent agent who had launched his career, he befriends Jean Dufour, a young agent, and together they triumph in France. Felix is on top, but how long can he resist the pull of his beloved île d'Orléans?

FORTIER V

Madness shadows us, but we don't always see its signs. Paradoxically, "normalcy" can often seem strange and disturbing. What does madness really mean in today's world, a time when the things we take for granted no longer exist, when uncertainty prevails, when our social order is breaking down? This theme underlines the detective series Fortier, which features Sophie Lorain in the role of a psychologist specializing in the criminal mind.

HOMMES EN QUARANTAINE II

Hommes en quarantaine features three guys grappling with the realities of life in their forties. Taking stock, giving up on one's dreams... in short, this is a time when you have to set your stopwatch back to zero. Francis tries to answer a fundamental question: is it possible to start over, is it possible to seduce a woman even though you have too little hair and too much of a paunch? Renaud, for his part, re-evaluates his lifestyle, focused on the pleasures of the flesh and the wallet. Will he be able to keep his resolutions? Then there's Paul, a happily married father of two. But is happiness enough?

LANCE ET COMPTE : LA RECONQUÊTE

The Quebec television series Lance et compte, which tells the story of Quebec's professional hockey team le National, has been a cult hit for the last 20 years. The theme of Lance et compte: La Reconquête is "winning back." On a professional level, this means winning back the Stanley Cup, the symbol of hockey supremacy in North America. For several of the characters, among them the famous Marc Gagnon, "winning back" has a more personal meaning. Will Marc win back the love of his beloved Suzie? In Lance et compte, celebrated sports reporter Réjean Tremblay draws on his wealth of experience to create a drama that casts an incisive eye on the professional and personal lives of today's sports stars.

LISTEN MISSY

A rapid-fire sketch comedy featuring some of Canada's top female performers. Each episode revolves around a different theme, such as "secrets," "power," and "fear," with the characters rendering humorous depictions centering on each. Audiences will readily relate to certain character types, like the overbearing busybody minding everybody's business except her own, and the "office bitches" who leave the office at the end of the day - but who never leave the office behind. Listen Missy is cutting-edge comedy at its best.

MURDER 19C: EXCEPT THE DYING

Except the Dying introduces TV audiences to Detective William Murdoch, a principled young man called to solve the mystery of a poor "woman of the street." When Toronto police find the body of a young woman in a back lane, Murdoch's superior, Inspector Brackenreid, is quick to dismiss the incident as an accidental death. However, Murdoch soon discovers her death was far more sinister. The victim was the housemaid of a wealthy and very prominent Toronto family, and, as Murdoch determines, she was pregnant and had opium in her system.

NEWSROOM II (THE)

With its wry, satirical and unapologetically black look at a newsroom and office politics, this critically acclaimed series has been a ratings winner both in Canada and around the world. George Findlay, the insecure, overbearing and decidedly politically incorrect director of a local TV newsroom is back at it with his questionable preoccupations aimed at preserving and enhancing his job, arranging for repairs on his BMW and seducing newsroom guests. Other newsroom regulars include Matt and Alex, a pair of cynical young producers; Jim Walcott, the self-absorbed, dim-witted anchor; and Claire, George's subtly judgemental assistant, who provides a counterpoint to the newsroom's frighteningly entertaining moral relativism.

PROM QUEEN: THE MARC HALL STORY

Marc Hall just wants to have fun. The 17-year-old Catholic schoolboy is a live wire and a bit of a showboat. His positive attitude and self-confidence allowed him, at the tender age of 15, to come out to friends and family. A popular guy, Marc has avoided much of the usual harassment a gay kid in a working-class town would face. In fact he's never been in a fight in his life. That is, until his principal tells him he can't bring his boyfriend to the prom... Suddenly, Marc is fighting not only for his right to party, but for the rights of gay teens everywhere to be themselves.

After a year of life at high speed, is it really possible that Esther and Benoît have found a way to complicate their lives even further? Is there a man out there who can resist Hélène's charms? Determined to look at life through rose-coloured glasses, will Clara finally find meaning in her life? Will "good-guy" Pierre-Paul dare engage in taboo behaviour? Lie or slander: Michèle Lauzon actually has a heart? The second season of Rumeurs explores all these questions, if not their answers, with plenty of humour, bad faith and fun.

SHATTERED CITY: THE HALIFAX EXPLOSION

It was the height of the First World War and Halifax was the epicentre of the massive movement of men and munitions. In the early hours of December 6, 1917, something went horribly wrong. The Mont Blanc, a French-owned munitions carrier loaded with thousands of tons of explosives, collided with a Belgian relief ship and caught fire. At 9:05 a.m., the Mont Blanc ignited in Halifax harbour - causing the world's greatest explosion before Hiroshima. Shattered City: The Halifax Explosion tells the story of how this tragic incident became a living metaphor for the war and how the people of Halifax rose from the ashes.

SLINGS AND ARROWS

Geoffrey Tennant returns to the New Burbage Theatre Festival, the site of his greatest triumph and most humiliating failure, to become artistic director after the sudden death of his mentor, Oliver Welles. When he arrives he finds that Oliver is still there, in spirit anyway, and with his guidance (and often in spite of it) Geoffrey attempts to reconcile with his past while wrestling the Festival back from the marketing department. Despite a bitter leading lady, a clueless leading man, a serendipitous apprentice, and a scheming general manager, he manages to stage a remarkably personal production of Hamlet, the play that drove him mad years earlier.

SMASH

In Smash, well-known Quebec comic Daniel Lemire offers a humorous and realistic look at his generation, the baby boomers. Deploying his usual quick-witted, deadpan style, he draws a portrait of four old friends who had first met some 25 years earlier at a youth hostel. The four, now in their mid-forties, are linked by a close friendship - and a weekly tennis game. The series' five instalments provide an ironic and mocking take on those who, once upon a time, wanted to change the world... but who have discovered that the world has changed them.

TRAILER PARK BOYS IV

Trailer Park Boys is a series that shows all that can go wrong with love, friends and family. At the centre of the series are Ricky, Julian and Bubbles, three guys whose lives were shaped by their experiences growing up in the trailer park. The boys have had their fair share of trouble with the law. It's not that they don't know right from wrong - it's just that right rarely presents itself.

TROIS FOIS RIEN II

In season two of this dynamic and innovative series, the comedy troupe Les Mecs Comiques ("the funny guys") continues to poke fun at the realities of modern life. Combining off-the-wall humour, sharp observation and just a hint of emotion, the three explore the daily lives of young adults. Louis, Jean-François and Alex are continually bombarded by life's big questions and little trivialities - issues such as fatherhood, career choices, and relationships.

TWO WINTERS: TALES FROM ABOVE THE EARTH

A blue-screen studio, live actors and original Yukon landscape paintings are creatively combined to create a 3D world where a Tutchone family struggles for survival during a time of "Two Winters." Through flash animation and dream sequences, we are reminded of a time when relationships between the earth, animals and people were part of everyday life, and we see how the ingenuity of animals eventually brings "Winter and Summer Worlds" back together again.

Y A TROP DE BLANCS AU QUÉBEC

A few years ago, Michel Mpambara, an immigrant from Rwanda, settled in Quebec. Shortly after, he launched a career as a comic, and quickly emerged as a new star of the Quebec comedy scene. His totally off-the-wall humour offers a delightfully intelligent take on cultural differences, particularly the strange customs and habits he discovered upon his arrival in French North America... This program captures Michel Mpambara's first one-man show.
