Filmmaker and veteran foreign correspondent for CBC and CTV, Michael Maclear revisits South Africa after almost 50 years away. Starting at the town of Maclear in the Eastern Cape, named after his great- great-grand uncle, Astronomer-Royal Sir Thomas Maclear, the filmmaker takes a novel approach in documenting the lives of white people under majority rule; he tracks down and profiles fellow descendants of Maclear whom today comprise a cross-section of urban South African whites.
