Road Scholars takes a novel approach to the examination of Aboriginal cultures, by sending young Canadian Aboriginals, the “student hosts,” to study and work in indigenous communities around the globe. They record their stories on digital video cameras. Through their eyes, we witness the cultural exchange between them and their hosts. In one episode, for instance, Road Scholar host Vanessa performs an Ojibway fancy shawl dance to traditional Meke dancers in Fiji.
