A couple of years ago, while surfing the Web, Vera and George Gara of Ottawa came across a document listing possessions stolen from Vera’s family by the Nazis during the Second World War. The inventory included a valuable painting by Austrian artist Albin Egger-Lienz, The Scythe Sharpener. Restitution. documents the couple’s emotional journey in search of the painting and their subsequent court battle with its current owner, a wealthy Viennese art collector.
