PORT HOPE: A QUESTION OF POWER

Idyllic Port Hope, on the shores of Lake Ontario has struggled for decades with a serious environmental hazard: thousands of tons of radioactive waste. When Cameco Limited, the local uranium enriching processing plant, announces plans to produce an new enriched fuel to revive Canada’s nuclear industry, some citizens raise questions about health and security. In a classic David and Goliath showdown, they take on the company, the industry, their own town council and federal regulators.
