Based on the true events that occurred on December 6, 1989, at the École Polytechnique, the engineering school of the Université de Montréal, Polytechnique recounts the story as seen through the eyes of Valérie and Jean-François. Both students at the time, their lives are changed forever when a young man enters Polytechnique with one idea in mind: to kill as many women as possible.

Denis Villeneuve

A key figure in the new generation of Canadian filmmakers, Denis Villeneuve has established a unique voice. His first film, Un 32 août sur terre, played at 35 international film festivals, most notably Cannes, Telluride and Toronto and was Canada's submission in the best foreign language film category at the Oscars. His second feature film, Maelström, won 25 prizes, including the prestigious International Critics Prize (FISPRECI) at the Berlin Film Festival in 2001. Next Floor, his most recent film, took home the prize for best short film during Critics Week at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival.
