Set in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Pipedreams is
about “hosers” – rural and working class Canadians. MacLeod, a laconic Cape Bretoner, has invited Patricia, a high-born British barrister, to stay with him as she awaits a trial for negligence following a car accident which killed both her despised husband and MacLeod’s beloved wife. Patricia is forced to wait around, however, as the longest-running snowstorm in local history delays
the trial indefinitely.
