MY FATHER, MY TEACHER

Traditional Inuit knowledge and philosophy have been filed as folklore in western society. One school of thought tells me my past is dead and now is the place to be. The other tells me my past is alive, and that to be in the here and now I must acknowledge it. My father, on the other hand, is firmly rooted in his identity. He is an Inupiat Eskimo. He knows who he is and where his place on this earth is. My father is my rock in the torrent of my thoughts. My father is Victor Allen. - Filmmaker Dennis Allen
