The Coffee Cantata pitches a grumpy old father against his cunning daughter Liesgen in a fight over the three daily cups of coffee she loves “more than a thousand kisses.” Shot entirely in Vancouver, the film cuts through layers of time and reality and steams up a baroque brew of anachronism, reflection and aesthetic delight with a subtle, surrealist twist.
