INSIDE FREEMASONRY

Freemasonry, the secret society that first became known to the public in 1717, was, by the 20th century, the largest organized group of men in the world. Between the First and Second World wars, however, Freemasonry activities were once again shrouded in secrecy, and by the 1980s membership in the society had declined considerably. Today, there is a quiet renaissance in Freemasonry, with young men across Canada flocking as never before to Masonic lodges. This documentary looks at six young men who have decided to become Freemasons. It chronicles the various enquiries, petitions, rites, ceremonies and degrees they pursue to become members of this important but little understood institution.
