Harvest in the Heartland chronicles the struggles of two of Manitoba’s 21,000 farm families. Larry McBurney is a third generation farmer who, along with his wife and son, has to work off-farm, to keep afloat his beef and grains operation. William Dyck has more security in dairy farming but the gruelling hours, 4 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week, take their toll. Welcome to western Canadian farming in the 21st century.
