Larry Kent
Director
Larry Kent wrote, directed and produced his first four feature films, The Bitter Ash (1963), Sweet Substitute (1964), When Tomorrow Dies (1965) and High (1967), between the ages of 24 and 28. They all enjoyed lengthy festival and theatrical releases internationally, where the name Larry Kent became synonymous with the term, provocateur.
After major retrospectives were held at cinematheques across Canada in 2003, Larry did what any natural-born filmmaker would do: he made another film, The Hamster Cage. At age 68, he went from being one of the youngest feature film directors in Canada’s history to one of the oldest.
