Firedance is about the fusion of two dance forms – Kathak of India and flamenco of Spain.
We are dazzled by the performances of Toronto dancers Joanna Das and Esmeralda Enrique, by their footwork and the rhythms of tabla and
guitar. Probing into the historical roots of the dances, the film reveals that flamenco sprang
from the classical form of Kathak, brought into Europe by the gypsies of India.
