DEATHLY SILENCE (A)

On May 17th, 2001, 24-year-old Segun Farquharson was shot and murdered 50 feet from his mother’s home. Segun’s murder was part of an outbreak of violence in Toronto over the past six years that has claimed the lives of more than 125 black men – men killed by other young black men. A Deathly Silence is the first-hand account of a single murder and its effect on the victim’s family. It is also a search to understand why black youth are killing each other and how the community is coping with the escalating violence.
