In December 2004, Marion Boyd, Ontario's former Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Women's Issues, issued a report recommending that family disputes among Muslims in Ontario be arbitrated using religious Islamic law. How have the hundreds of thousands of Muslim women in Canada reacted to the possible implementation of "Canadian Sharia law"? Will Canada, in the name of multiculturalism, allow "its" Muslims to settle disputes within their communities using their own laws?
