Based in downtown Toronto, the Blue Murder Squad was originally formed to solve cases that are messy, high profile, flagrant and potentially damaging to the police force itself. This season, Deputy Chief of Detective Command Kay Barrow bolsters her Blue Murder unit with a fourth investigator, Nathaniel Sweet. Black, in his mid 30s, from the hard-scrabble town of North Preston, Nova Scotia, Sweet is a decorated corporal on a “one year lateral” from the RCMP. His presence quickly creates tension inside the unit.
