The Times of London has compared him to Graham Greene but you wouldn’t know M.G. Vassanji from a bar of soap. Filmmaker Robin Benger changes all that with a lush, incisive, full-access profile that takes the viewer from Vassanji’s home in Toronto to the Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) of his childhood, a Nairobi (Kenya) of corruption and murder, and back to Deep River, Ontario where he worked as nuclear physicist.
