Activist, politician, pioneer. Nellie Cournoyea's life journey has been a roadmap for the development of Canada's north. Born on a trapline, Nellie Cournoyea became the first Native woman to be elected premier in Canada (of the Northwest Territories). Today, she is CEO of the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation. In this role she is the driving force behind a $4-billion deal that will see Aboriginal people become major partners in one of the biggest natural gas pipelines ever built in Canada.
