|
It’s 1981 and the Trogi family moves into a new house. Ricardo, 11 years old, senses the weight of the move without understanding the significance of the word mortgage. He’s the new boy in class and the other pupils seem to come from richer circumstances than him. To avoid being discovered for who he really is, Ricardo decides to invent a life that he must carefully maintain if he is to find his place at the new school.
But, soon enough, it becomes essential to tell the truth and the youngest Trogi decides to forge his own identity.

Ricardo Trogi
Director
Ricardo Trogi’s first films were shorts he made during his stint with La Course destination monde en 1995, a former Radio-Canada television show that featured the work of beginning filmmakers selected to spend a year travelling and filming. Later, his short, 2nd Chance, was selected for the Longue Nuit du Court Métrages at Cannes. Seven years later, his hit first feature film, Québec-Montréal, was selected as the opening film for the Semaine du cinéma du Québec à Paris, and won the Bayard d’Or and two other prizes at the Festival du film francophone de Namur. In 2005, Trogi’s film Horloge Biologique was screened at many film festivals including Miami, Montevideo, Santiago and Toronto.
Mille neuf cent quatre-vingt-un is Ricardo Trogi’s third feature film.
